Data Updates: CarbonGraph Now Supports Ecoinvent 3.11 and the EN15804 System Model
At CarbonGraph, transparency and scientific rigor have always been at the core of what we do - see our methodology here for more on that. That’s why we’re excited to announce full support for Ecoinvent 3.11, including the EN15804 system model, now available directly within CarbonGraph.
This update means CarbonGraph users can model products and materials with the most trusted, peer-reviewed life cycle data available, ensuring every environmental insight is grounded in verifiable science.
What’s New in Ecoinvent 3.11
Ecoinvent 3.11 is the latest release from the world’s most comprehensive LCI database, developed by the non-profit Ecoinvent Association in Switzerland. It includes:
Over 25,000 updated datasets across manufacturing, energy, transport, and materials
Refined biogenic carbon accounting and improved handling of recycled materials
New regional coverage and methodological consistency aligned with ISO 14040/44 and EN15804+A2
For users building Product Carbon Footprints (PCFs) or Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs), these updates enhance both accuracy and comparability.
Introducing the EN15804 System Model
The EN15804 system model in Ecoinvent provides a consistent framework for construction product assessments. It integrates the latest A1–A3 (cradle-to-gate) methodologies and harmonized treatment of:
Recycling and reuse flows
End-of-life assumptions
Biogenic carbon and sequestration
By aligning with EN15804, CarbonGraph users can now create models that are immediately compatible with the standards governing EPDs for building and construction products, without extra configuration or dataset mapping.
Why Peer-Reviewed Data Sources Matter
Accurate sustainability analysis starts with high-quality data. Using a peer-reviewed, internationally recognized database like Ecoinvent ensures:
Credibility – Built on transparent, reviewed datasets curated by independent experts
Consistency – Uniform methodologies across industries and geographies
Comparability – Results that can be benchmarked confidently against other studies or EPDs
Trust – Datasets accepted by certification bodies, auditors, and major reporting standards
In short: better data means better decisions. When you’re designing lower-carbon products or proving sustainability advantages, precision and traceability are essential.
Bringing It All Together in CarbonGraph
With Ecoinvent 3.11 and EN15804 now live in CarbonGraph, you can:
Build models from verified datasets with AI for speed, and a transparent graph data model for control
Switch between system models directly in the interface
Generate EPD-ready results and custom reduction scenarios without leaving your workspace
Our mission is to make robust life cycle assessment accessible to every product designer, sustainability manager, and educator, while upholding quality and transparency. Supporting the latest from Ecoinvent is another step toward that goal.
